Three teenage students were critically wounded in a shooting at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, on Wednesday. According to Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Jacki Kelley, the shooting took place at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colorado, The Associated Press reported.

All three victims, plus the shooter, are students at the high school and are critically wounded, Fox News reported.

"We're aware of the tragic situation unfolding near Denver," FBI Director Kash Patel posted to X on Wednesday. "The FBI is on scene and in full support of local authorities to ensure everyone's safety."

As reported by the AP, all three teens were either in surgery or being treated in the emergency room at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colorado. The identity of the shooter or whether there were additional shooters remains unclear.

"I am closely monitoring the situation at Evergreen High School, and am getting live updates," Colorado Governor Jared Polis posted to X Wednesday afternoon. "State Troopers are supporting local law enforcement in responding to this situation. Students should be able to attend school safely and without fear across our state and nation. We are all praying for the victims and the entire community."

Over 100 police officers responded to the scene, and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, which previously handled the 1999 Columbine High School shooting, was also involved.

Wednesday's shooting also follows the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was shot in the neck during a Q&A at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The suspect remains at large after two previous suspects were released.

A Prayer for Those Affected by Recent Shootings

Lord,

We pray for Your peace and comfort in this tragic time. Moments like this remind us that we live in a fallen world where evil abounds. At the same time, we are reminded that You are our hope in these times and that we can find comfort in You. I pray for the students who were wounded in the shooting, and I also pray for the family of Charlie Kirk at this time, especially his wife and kids.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
